- However, you won’t be using that serial number with the Remington Serial/Barrel Number Lookup app because that number won’t tell you the month and year it was manufactured. The two-letter code on the barrel is part of a special coding system designed by Remington to identify the manufacturing dates of all their shotguns and rifles.
- The following serial number information is for Remingtion firearms manufactured after 1921. Remingtons manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel.
- The rifle's serial number contains two letters that denote the month and year of manufacture. The first letter corresponds to the month. Each of the 12 months of the year correspond to a letter in the word 'blackpowderx.' You'll need to check the chart on Remington's website to match up the letter with the year, as the series does not.
